PGH FASHION WEEK

Last night was incredible and served as the first time Matia Collections was exclusively represented within a fashion show. Within the next hour I will post a summary of the show, written for my school's newspaper and a video. However, currently I am leaving you with some articles I am featured in from the Pittsburgh Tribune Review. Take a look!

FIRST SALE!

Hi everyone! So as you may know, Stained by Sunshine - the blog you are currently reading - is a product of my clothing brand Matia Collections. This past week my beautiful and amazing friend Natalie made my first sale as she bought this adorable 'scripted' skirt. Take some notes on how she styles the look, its simply fab! I just wanted to share this milestone for the world! Love you all and thanks for reading xoxoxo

As my friend said: Coco Chanel?

While I was picking out my outfit the last thing I was thinking about was Coco Chanel; however, I find  the comment extremely flattering. For the past few months this beautiful scarf of mine has sat on a chair in my room and finally this past week I crafted an outfit worthy of it. My style inspiration came from the french as almost every chic woman in the perfect city was adorned in a beautiful silk scarf. When wearing something so extravagant, it is important to make it the key focus of an outfit, so that its beauty is not overshadowed by other pieces.

Boho chic?

Hello fashionable loves!
So today I've been making line-ups, finalizing models and putting the finishing touches on looks for the premier of Matia Collections at Pittsburgh Fashion Week!!! For one look which included a eyelet vest, I needed to create a maxi skirt to go with it, and knowing me and my complete love of sheer and sparkles, especially when together, I couldn't help choose unconventional fabrics. Since creating the skirt, I have been messing around with it and creating outfits (due to my short height I usually steer clear of maxis, but now its time to have some fun!) So, what do you think?!

Scrubmania

I want to tell you all about one of my greatest friends Lani Lazzari who is also the CEO of the ultra-smooth company Simple Sugars Scrub. My friend, who just graduated high school is making records in the world as she was featured in Forbes Magazine as youngest CEO ever! Lani started her company originally because she needed a bath wash that was gentle enough to cater to her sensitive skin, now years later, her products are sold in boutiques all around the U.S. Before using Simple Sugars I had never been a huge fan of body scrubs as they were usually scratchy and left me feeling like I had incurred a brush burn rather than exfoliation. However, Lani's all-natural sugar-based scrubs were different than anything I had used before, not only did it leave my skin super silky, but I didn't have to endure any pain to get the fab results. Yet, the ultimate reason that I use Simple Sugars is because it pleased my olfactory (AP Lit vocab word, look it up!) sense. Because all of Lani's scrubs are all-natural, you never find yourself smelling strange toxic chemical smells, instead everything smells so good that often you wish you could eat it (technically you can, but it doesn't taste as good as it smells - yes, I have tried it!). My all-time favorite scrub that I just cannot get enough of is the lilac scrub whose smell brings back memories of stormy spring days and sweet flowers. I have yet to try a scrub that I do not like, even flavors I don't normally enjoy eating such as gingerbread are impossible not to get hooked on. So if I were you, and I just bothered to read this entire novel, I would check out the Simple Sugars website to learn more about the brand, Lani, and the products. I promise, you won't be able to resist buying it!

A week of fashion: Thursday

Today's look combines the perfect amount of professionalism with girly-ness. I believe that the keys to a great outfit are simplicity, material and texture; sure, prints and bold colors a great, but they're difficult to match and sometimes can appear tacky or cheap. As you can tell from my past posts, I gravitate towards pale pastels and curve-esentuating silhouettes. My favorite part of this outfit is the blazer; the cozy wool used eliminates the boxiness of most blazers and the charcoal piping create sliming and defining lines. Additionally, the blazer carries a lot of character as it is composed of many discrete details including the inner ruffle, victorian lapel clasps and intricate zipper. The shell pink skirt works to compliment the blazer as it offers a discrete weaving pattern and a streamlined shape.

I'm so sorry I've been a stranger for the past week. I've been battling colds and the first week of school work. But I will leave you today with a picture that I cannot stop looking at! How amazing is the color blocking in this skirt and the fact that its like the coolest drop waist you've ever seen. Karlie Kloss rocks this and I'm sure you would too!
